About RAMSES

The Robotic Assisted Microsurgical and Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) was formed on February 15, 2010, in California at a gathering of microsurgeons from differing fields of expertise with an interest in robotic assisted surgery. The purpose of this society is to further the development and application of robotic assisted microsurgical tools and platforms for enhanced surgical and patient outcomes. The advent of microscopes revolutionized microsurgical procedures in the 1960s and 1970s. Our goal is to ensure the proper, safe and evidence based development of robotic assisted platforms and tools; therefore, impact microsurgery in a meaningful and beneficial manner.

About the 1st Annual Multispecialty Robotic Microsurgery Symposium
Our first annual RAMSES meeting to be held in Orlando, Florida, November 4 - 6, 2011, is the first multi-specialty microsurgical gathering of its kind - with microsurgeons from varying fields: hand, plastics, reconstructive, ENT, urology, gynecology, ophthalmology, vascular, orthopedics, pediatrics and peripheral nerve. This meeting will be like no other:

  • Featured leading speakers from all surgeries with robotic assistance and conventional microsurgical techniques
Pro and con debates on robotic assisted microsurgery
Microsurgical and robotic assisted technique overviews
    First-ever live robotic microsurgery cases
First-ever hands-on robotic microsurgical training labs - specialty specific
First-ever biosynthetic cadaver and tissue microsurgery training
Keynote speakers from industry leaders in robotic assisted microsurgery platforms and tools
Hands-on training with new prototype robotic assisted microsurgical tools
  • Robotic assisted surgery has shown tremendous advantages in the field of laparoscopy and has rapidly been incorporated in a number of laparoscopic procedures across various fields of surgery. However, we believe that the advantages provided by robotics in elimination of tremor, scaling of motion and enhanced magnification really have the potential to have an even greater impact in the field of microsurgery. There is also more uniformity in the tools utilized by microsurgeons across various fields, which can provide greater utilization of a common robotic assisted microsurgical platform.
  • To date, several hundred robotic assisted microsurgical procedures have been successfully completed at many institutions across the world. Our goal is to provide a unified forum for the further development and training of these procedures and expand their use.
